Button Opening Range Chart — Six-Max, 100bb

When everyone folds to the button, only the blinds remain. You will have position after the flop against either blind, making this an important spot to learn a wider opening range.

Why the button can open wider

There are only two opponents left to get through, and you act last after the flop. Compare the button with the cutoff to see the extra suited and offsuit hands. Position helps you realise equity, but it does not make every starting hand a profitable raise.

Study the weaker hands, not just the premiums

AKs and AA are straightforward. Spend your practice time comparing low suited connectors, weaker suited queens, and offsuit kings. Tap a cell to see whether a marginal hand is a pure raise, a mix, or a fold in this strategy.

An opening range is only the first decision

This chart raises to 2.5bb when the pot is unopened. If a blind three-bets, the action has changed: do not call with every hand you opened. The app also has separate drills for facing a three-bet.

How to read a poker range chart

The 13×13 grid contains all 169 starting-hand classes in No-Limit Texas Hold’em. Pairs run down the diagonal, from AA to 22. Suited hands sit above it (AKs), and offsuit hands below it (AKo). T means ten.

The legend gives the action and total range percentage. A split cell means the hand mixes actions: 75% raise and 25% fold means raising three quarters of the time. It does not describe the hand’s chance of winning. Raise sizes are the total bet in big blinds, not the extra amount added.

Overall percentages count card combinations: each pair has 6, each suited hand 4, and each offsuit hand 12, for 1,326 combinations in total. Simply counting coloured squares would give a different, misleading percentage.

Are BU and BTN the same position?

Yes. Both abbreviations mean the button, also called the dealer position. The chart uses BTN and the matching Pokerscope drill labels it BU.
